Senior Strategic Advisor – Former Federal C-Suite Executive

ROAM FEDERAL is a veteran-owned consulting and advisory firm supporting federal modernization, cybersecurity, strategic decision-making, and mission-focused growth. Our work brings former federal leaders together with technology companies, prime contractors, and government organizations navigating complex federal environments.

We are seeking former senior federal executives, including CIO, CTO, CISO, CDO, CAIO, and deputy-level leaders, to serve as independent Senior Strategic Advisors. Advisors support ROAM, prime partners, and technology companies with federal go-to-market strategy, capture planning, opportunity pursuit, and executive engagement.

The role is designed for leaders who can turn firsthand agency knowledge into practical guidance: testing assumptions, shaping win strategies, assessing complex opportunities, and connecting technology capabilities to real agency priorities.

Role Detail

What you’ll contribute.

This is a senior advisory role built around judgment, agency context, executive communication, and the ability to strengthen federal pursuits and strategies.

Key Responsibilities

GTM & capture advisory. Guide federal market and capture strategies for ROAM, prime partners, OEMs, and client teams.
Opportunity pursuit & deal shaping. Evaluate opportunities, acquisition approaches, win themes, and positioning for modernization, Zero Trust, AI, cloud, and cyber initiatives.
Executive & client briefings. Bring senior SME perspective into leadership discussions, strategic customer engagements, and partner conversations.
Proposal & strategy alignment. Review messaging, solution approaches, and capability positioning against agency priorities, roadmaps, and risk posture.
Procurement-path insight. Help teams understand how contract vehicles and acquisition pathways affect market positioning and opportunity strategy.
Strategic growth consulting. Collaborate with ROAM leadership and the Strategic Advisory Council on emerging opportunities and high-value federal pursuits.

Qualifications

Senior federal leadership. Previous CIO, CTO, CISO, CDO, CAIO, deputy-level, or comparable executive experience; SES-level experience preferred.
Technology context. Strong understanding of federal IT governance, Zero Trust, cloud modernization, AI policy, cybersecurity, and enterprise transformation.
Strategy & capture. Ability to translate agency priorities, policy, regulation, and operating reality into actionable federal market strategy.
Modernization experience. Firsthand involvement in major technology, security, automation, cloud, or emerging-technology initiatives.
Executive presence. Comfort advising senior government, OEM, prime-contractor, and C-suite stakeholders.
Communication & independence. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a remote, project-based 1099 model.
